The Dread of Public Speaking
Many people dread public speaking – Megan Washington has good reason to do so
For many, the fear of public speaking is one of the foremost causes of anxiety and stress. Sleepless nights, cold sweats and panic attacks and yet there is often actually very little to be afraid of and the fear itself can br broken down until it is recognised as irrational.
For some, however, the fear is based on reality and has good cause and Megan Washington, one of Australia’s leading singer songwriters, is one of those. Since childhood she has had a stutter. In this moving and bold talk, she describes how she copes with it, tricks her brain and how through some synaptic miracle of the brain it is impossible to stutter when you are singing.
A great TED sing and one that shoud inspire anyone with a dread of public speaking.
